GPS bike Maps of Italian Swiss Lakes for free

Install for free the bike Maps of Lake Maggiore, Varese, Lugano, Como onto your GPS device that can guide you around Swiss and Italian Lakes.
If you are biking with your Garmin GPS or a compatible device, you can install the Maps (73 MB) of the Swiss and Italian Lakes onto your device that can help you on the roads around Lake Maggiore, Varese, Lugano and Como.

We downloaded them from the website Velomap.org. We uploaded them in our Garmin GPS devices, then we tested them on our roads. they correctly runs.

Install directly to GPS device without access to Garmin Mapsource or Garmin Basecamp. Simply copy the file roadie-LNIBT.img to your GPS into the /garmin folder or to SD card where it's available.

In this case roadie-LNIBT.img  (57 MB) is in zipped or compressed format, you have to do the reverse procedure.

If you have a pre 2009 or older GPS device, the file ROADIE-LNIBT.IMG doesn't work. You have to rename the file (from ROADIE-LNIBT.IMG in GMAPSUPP.IMG) and to overwrite the old file GMAPSUPP.IMG in your GPS device.

What are the Italian amd Swiss Lakes Maps like

We’ve found that the Maps are typically better in towns as they are updated much more frequently, whereas Garmin Maps tend to be more accurate in unpopulated areas. Across the board, Garmin Maps are more likely to be consistent but you obviously have to pay for that luxury. However we haven't found a real different between Openmtbmap and Garmin Maps. Check the compatibility with your device.
